Office of the Provost-Hosted Retreats
This summer the Provost’s Office invites you to join your fellow faculty while giving yourself a productive break. The summer faculty writing events offer a time and place to work on whatever you want, be it scholarly projects, teaching materials, or creative or personal writing.

On August 9-11 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. each day, an in-person writing retreat will be held at Rising Silo Brewery in Blacksburg. The space is covered but open to the outside to allow for adequate ventilation. Coffee and pastries, ongoing (non-alcoholic) beverages, and lunch will be provided. Please note that wifi access at Rising Silo is limited. You may register for one, two, or all three days.

This event is free, but space for the in-person retreat is limited to 40 participants and a brief application is required. Registration will remain open until June 15, 2022. Because space is limited, we ask that you commit to attending any dates that you register. We will confirm your spot for the in-person retreat after the registration deadline. Preference will be given to those who have not participated in a prior summer retreat at Virginia Tech.

All Virginia Tech instructional faculty (tenured or tenure-track, collegiate, continued appointment or continued appointment track, research, extension, clinical, instructors, adjuncts) are invited to participate.
