General ItemFaculty Qualifications for Teaching
Documenting the qualifications of an instructor of record is the responsibility of the department or school in which the course originates. In general, all instructors of record at Virginia Tech must meet the “credentialing” requirements outlined in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

General ItemLeave Without Pay
In certain circumstances, faculty may wish to take leave from their duties without salary.

General ItemResearch Extended Appointments
Academic year faculty appointments can be extended to calendar year with the use of research funds as described in university policy 6200.

Tenured and continued-appointment faculty members may be eligible for study-research leave and research assignment as described in Chapter 3 of the Faculty Handbook.
