Rachel Gabriele

Rachel Gabriele joined the Office of the Provost in October of 2015. Her responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Academic, Research, and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Visitors, coordination of the New Faculty Mentoring Grant program, the Work-Life Liaisons program, and Faculty Writing Retreats, in addition to several other programs and initiatives designed to improve the recruitment, retention, and advancement of faculty members at Virginia Tech.

Rachel previously served as Assistant to the Assistant Vice President for Budget & Financial Planning at Virginia Tech, where her responsibilities included management of the operations of Office of Budget and Financial Planning (OBFP), strategic planning, coordination annual budget requests and monitoring/projection of the budget for the OBFP, and policy research and analysis related to strategic initiatives.

Rachel came to Virginia Tech from the private sector, bringing 12 years of experience in business development, project management, and design experience from a career in the design and marketing industry.  In this role, she worked both overseas and as a telecommuter, travelling extensively nationally and internationally developing business relationships with leading investment banks.  Rachel began her career in investment banking at Hambrecht & Quist (now known as JPMorgan Chase) in San Francisco, CA.

Rachel holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Virginia Tech, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in art history from the University of Delaware.
